An Ancient Passion...

The Company began its activity around the beginning of the 1900s, thanks to its founders, Mr. Calligaro Giosuè, and his wife, Mrs. Pinazza Eugenia. Being a skillful and smart trader, in a few years he has managed to set up a new company from zero, making it grow exponentially. At first, he started trading the trunks of local woods , then he focused on their sawing in the local sawmills of Lozzo di Cadore to flow into the production of boards and semi-finished products. In doing so, he maximized his development and trade, directly selling the timber and all its final products by importing them mainly from neighboring Austria and distributing them throughout the national territory .

...that has deep Roots

The Love for Nature and the deep Respect for the Environment have always represented the foundation and core of our corporate Mission. Giosuè Calligaro, an expert and a guarantor, today is the supplier of over 3,500 customers all over the world in the wood sector.

WOOD IS...
BEAUTIFUL, ELASTIC, COZY, MODERN, DUCTILE, CURRENT, CHEAP, PERFUMED, CHIC, NATURAL, DEEP, TIMELESS, WARM, COMFORTABLE, ECOLOGICAL, RENEWABLE, ELEGANT...

... COMFORT AND SUSTAINABILITY ADDRESSING THE FUTURE

Building using wood is an excellent practice as it respects the environment and it ensures a cost reduction in the realization. And there are other important reasons to take into account: wood is the most ecological and sustainable material, it is healthy, renewable and long-lasting, it owns anti-seismic properties, it is comfortable and able to provide thermal insulation above average and, therefore, it ensures real energy savings.

The increasing attention to eco-sustainability and the search for a better quality of life have greatly contributed to making wood, regarded as a natural building material, once again in great demand within the private sector, and both within the industrial architecture and public buildings. Wood is an organic material and therefore it owns specific structural properties. Wood lives and has its own character, therefore it must be chosen, worked and treated to perfection.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FOREST

The forest as a fundamental element of ecological stability, as an essential part of the territory's hydrogeological defense, as a piece in the construction of the landscape, as a space for recreation, as a highly efficient filter of the atmosphere, able to capture a greenhouse gas like carbon dioxide and transform it into a very valuable organic matter.

The forest is an asset to be preserved and protected through a responsible and sustainable forest management.

WHAT DOES "SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT" MEAN?

The current definition of sustainable forest management, adopted in 1993 by the Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe, is: "the management and use of forests and forest land in the forms and at a rate of use that allows it to maintain:

  • Biodiversity
  • Productivity
  • Capacity for renewal

    • Vitality and potential to fulfill, now and in the future, relevant ecological, economic and social functions at local, national and global level, without causing damage to other ecosystems "
